‘Truth’ behind servo snake photo

Australian Peter Ward wins prize at the 2020 Astonomy Photographer of the Year Awards

The photograph that looks to show huge orange flames engulfing trees in the bush, however, is actually of a nebula, NGC 3576, in space.

Winner of the ‘Stars and Nebulae’ category, it was taken by Australian photographer Peter Ward, and combines 32 images with the stars removed.

Wild video of croc speeding past fisherman in boat

Commercial fisherman Robert Dunn captured footage of the croc, estimated to be about 4.5-metres, speeding along the Bloomfield River north of Cairns on Monday, diving under and resurfacing repeatedly as it races up the river.

Asteroid coming ‘close’ to Earth

The asteroid, 2011 ES4, is still classed as “potentially hazardous” even though it will be between 72,000km and 16 million kilometres away when it passes on Tuesday. The moon, by comparison, is 384,000km away from Earth.

Russian doctors pull 1.2-metre snake from woman’s mouth

The snake had reportedly slithered inside the woman while she was asleep in the backyard of her home in the village of Levashi, Dagestan, 7 News reported.

The woman was taken to hospital and placed under general anaesthetic after feeling unwell.
