Lugansk
Lugansk is an administrative, cultural, financial and industrial center of Lugansk region, which is situated in the Eastern Ukraine. Lugansk region borders on Russia and the total length of the borderline between Russia and Lugansk region is 850 km. The city was founded in 1795. Lugansk is a transport junction, there is an airport in Lugansk. The population of the city is about 0,5mln people.
The Lugansk region's area is 26,7 thousand sq km, the population of the region is about 2,6mln people. The region stretches for more then 250 kilometers from the north to the south and for 190 kilometers from the west to the east.
The key industries of the region are: coal-mining, metallurgy, machine-building, chemical, light, food and agrarian industries. There are 10 higher educational establishments in Lugansk, different scientific, technical exhibitions are regularly held here.
