The historical roots of the Lugansk National Agrarian University penetrate through nineteenth-century since the discovery in 1826, the Lugano model agricultural farm official. As a college university started its activities in 1921 and it s purpose was to train highly skilled agronomists, polevodov for challenging climatic conditions east of Ukraine - Donbass. For many decades, remains the only higher LNAU agricultural multi -institution of Donbass highest IV level of accreditation, which trains highly qualified personnel for agriculture.

During the entire existence of LNAU Prepared over 60 000 experts, including renowned scientists, technologists and organizers of agricultural production, government officials, many of which are government awards. Lugansk National Agrarian University is the holder of Diploma of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was awarded the diploma “Golden Fortune” and an international diploma “European quality”. Is a multiple winner of LNAU ranking “leader of the agro -industrial complex.” The University actively participates in international, national and regional exhibitions. Achievements LNAU confirmed high honors:

- An honorary title of “Leader of Modern Education”, gold, silver and bronze medals of the international exhibitions “Modern education in Ukraine” 2008-2011;

-  Gold, silver and bronze medals of the international exhibitions “Agro” in 2002-2011 years;

-  Crystal Stella and the Grand Prix of the international exhibition “Modern education - 2010”;

- Gold medal s in the category “Innovation in Education of Ukraine”, a diploma for active participation in educational innovation;

- Honor award for the highest rates in the direction of “international activities” in the ranking competition exhibition International exhibition “Modern education -2011”.

LNAU developed as a large university center, which brings together research institutes, technical colleges and Lugansk Donetsk, Lugansk State Regional Training Centre for training, retraining and skills development and agribusiness UNPAK LNAU “Kolos”.

Total number of students - over 20 thousand.

LNAU provides training for full-time and correspondence courses on education and skill training programs for “bachelor”, “specialist”, “master” in the following areas : agriculture, forestry and horticultural farming , ecology, environmental protection and balanced use of natural resources, technology production and processing of livestock products, veterinary medicine, processes, machines and equipment of agricultural production (machinery), construction (industrial and civil, roads and airports), geodesy, cartography and land management, food technology and engineering (meat processing, milk processing); accounting an d auditing, management, enterprise economy, economic cybernetics, finance and credit marketing.

By 53 departments of knowledge and experience transfer 85 doctors an d professors, 298 PhDs and professors, 28 academicians and corresponding members of branch academies of Ukraine.

Center for Postgraduate Education offers a second degree.

Current activities of the university scientists is aimed at solving fundamental and applied problems in the areas of agriculture, crop production, market gardening and horticulture, animal and plant biology, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, mechanization and electrification of agriculture, technology, repairs of machinery, agricultural construction, technology, construction materials, agricultural economics economy, ecology, environment and production of environmentally friendly products. Successfully functioning scientific schools of economics and marketing, economics and statistics, economic management, agriculture, genetics and plant biology, animal biology, animal surgery, the reproduction of farm animals, mechanization of production processes in animals. In LNAU published collection of scientific works , 5 series which includes a list of special editions, approved HAC of Ukraine. The university reported 22 teaching and research, and 5 scientific and industrial laboratories, in which there are 76 student scientific societies. This creates the scientific production of the University, as well as here , through postgraduate an d doctoral re search personnel are prepared for 17 specialties. The main production base of scientific re search university is an educational and scientific-industrial agricultural complex LNAU “Kolos”, which has arable land area of 3 hectares.

Labour Market Board ensures the organization of graduate employment.

Lugansk National Agrarian University has an extensive network of international contacts. Today in LNAU young people learn fro m 26 countries. Students have practice in the United States, Britain, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, etc. It is important that the practice is high and students are encouraged to adopt best practices in the agricultural sector not only in Europe but around the world.

The university paid much attention to the spiritual development of students, aesthetic education, raise the cultural level. Six creative teams LNAU have a high rank “People’s”: People’s dance ensemble “Sonyashnik” folk vocal ensemble “Zolotі grain”, the national ensemble of modern ballroom dance “Inspiration”, the folk ensemble modern pop dance “Paradise”, the national student theater, folk choir students. For the meaningful leisure activities and students realize their creative talents in the university operated 29 offices faculty of social professions, and 15 sports clubs.

In LNAU cultivated a healthy lifestyle. Students athletes take part in competitions of different levels of the Ukrainian championships before the Olympic s. Today University - one of the leaders in 11 sports among the educational institutions of Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

Lugansk National Agrarian University integrate s into the European educational space, modernizing education under the Bologna process, keeping the best traditions that shaped the history of the university. Thanks to this improved level and quality of education that meet the latest requirements.
